The ILADS European Scientific Conference: Advancing Lyme Disease Care

In April 2026, Dr Minha travelled to London for the European Scientific Conference of the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS), having been awarded a bursary by ILADEF, the society’s educational foundation, to take part. ILADS is an international, multidisciplinary medical society devoted to advancing the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease and its associated tick-borne infections, conditions that remain contested and under-recognised, and that leave many patients moving from clinician to clinician for years in search of answers.

That gap between suffering and diagnosis is exactly the territory Curaidh Clinic works in. Lyme disease and its co-infections – among them Babesia, Bartonella, Anaplasma and Ehrlichia – can produce a bewildering, multi-system picture that is easily dismissed, and Dr Minha has more than once been the person to identify it in patients who had spent years being told their symptoms were unexplainable, work grounded in research she has contributed to, including a published study of immune biomarkers in Lyme and tick-borne infections that features in our media library.

At the conference she is pictured with members of the ILADS board and team, including the microbiologist Dr Garth Ehrlich and Dr Robert Bransfield, the psychiatrist and past ILADS president known for his research into the neuropsychiatric effects of Lyme disease. She also connected with a prominent Lyme disease campaigner famous for refusing to hide her walking sticks, and for insisting that disability should never be something to be ashamed of, who hopes to visit Dundee for a Lyme awareness event with the clinic.

For a clinic in Scotland that regularly meets patients failed by years of uncertainty, connections like these matter enormously: they bring world-level expertise, and world-level advocacy, home.
